CCCC 202. Che cosa si indica con il termine carne, e qual è la sua importanza?

Il termine carne designa l'uomo nella sua condizione di debolezza e di mortalità. «La carne è il cardine della salvezza» (Tertulliano). Infatti, noi crediamo in Dio creatore della carne; crediamo nel Verbo fatto carne per riscattare la carne; crediamo nella risurrezione della carne, compimento della creazione e della redenzione della carne.

CCCC 202. Que signifie le terme chair? Quelle est son importance?

Le terme chair désigne l’homme dans sa condition de faiblesse et de mortalité. « La chair est le pivot du salut » (Tertullien). En effet, nous croyons en Dieu, créateur de la chair; nous croyons au Verbe fait chair pour racheter la chair, nous croyons en la résurrection de la chair, achèvement de la création et de la rédemption de la chair.

CCCC 202. What is the meaning of the term “body” (or “flesh”) and what importance does it have?

The resurrection of the flesh is the literal formulation in the Apostles Creed for the resurrection of the body. The term “flesh” refers to humanity in its state of weakness and mortality. “The flesh is the hinge of salvation” (Tertullian). We believe in God the Creator of the flesh; we believe in the Word made flesh in order to redeem flesh; and we believe in the resurrection of flesh which is the fulfillment of both the creation and the redemption of the flesh.

Significa che lo stato definitivo dell'uomo non sarà soltanto l'anima spirituale separata dal corpo, ma che anche i nostri corpi mortali un giorno riprenderanno vita.

Cela signifie que l’état définitif de l’homme ne sera pas seulement l’âme spirituelle séparée du corps, mais que nos corps mortels sont aussi appelés à reprendre vie un jour.

This means that the definitive state of man will not be one in which his spiritual soul is separated from his body. Even our mortal bodies will one day come to life again.
