Maria ha un unico Figlio, Gesù, ma in lui la sua maternità spirituale si estende a tutti gli uomini che egli è venuto a salvare. Obbediente al fianco del nuovo Adamo, Gesù Cristo, la Vergine è la nuova Eva, la vera madre dei viventi, che coopera con amore di madre alla loro nascita e alla loro formazione nell'ordine della grazia. Vergine e Madre, Maria è la figura della Chiesa, la sua più perfetta realizzazione.

Marie a un Fils unique, Jésus, mais, en lui, sa maternité spirituelle s’étend à tous les hommes, qu’il est venu sauver. Obéissant au côté du nouvel Adam, qui est Jésus Christ, la Vierge est la nouvelle Ève, la véritable mère des vivants, qui coopère avec son amour maternel à leur naissance et à leur croissance dans l’ordre de la grâce. Vierge et Mère, Marie est la figure de l’Église, sa plus parfaite réalisation.
