CCCC 78. Dopo il primo peccato, che cosa ha fatto Dio?

Dopo il primo peccato, il mondo è stato inondato di peccati, ma Dio non ha abbandonato l'uomo in potere della morte, ma, al contrario, gli ha predetto in modo misterioso - nel «Protovangelo» (Gn 3,15) - che il male sarebbe stato vinto e l'uomo sollevato dalla caduta. E il primo annuncio del Messia redentore. Perciò la caduta sarà perfino chiamata felice colpa, perché «ha meritato un tale e così grande Redentore» (Liturgia della Veglia pasquale).

Après le premier péché, le monde a été envahi par les péchés, mais Dieu n’a pas abandonné l’homme au pouvoir de la mort. Au contraire, il a annoncé d’une façon mystérieuse – dans le « Protévangile » (cf. Gn 3,15) – que le mal serait vaincu et que l’homme serait relevé de la chute. C’est la première annonce du Messie rédempteur. C’est pourquoi on ira jusqu’à qualifier la chute d’heureuse faute (felix culpa), car « elle a mérité un si grand Rédempteur » (Liturgie de la Veillée pascale).

After the first sin the world was inundated with sin but God did not abandon man to the power of death. Rather, he foretold in a mysterious way in the “Protoevangelium” (Genesis 3:15) that evil would be conquered and that man would be lifted up from his fall. This was the first proclamation of the Messiah and Redeemer. Therefore, the fall would be called in the future a “happy fault” because it “gained for us so great a Redeemer” (Liturgy of the Easter Vigil).
