CCCC 386. Che cos'è la fede?

La fede è la virtù teologale per la quale noi crediamo a Dio e a tutto ciò che egli ci ha rivelato e che la Chiesa ci propone di credere, perché Dio è la stessa Verità. Con la fede l'uomo si abbandona a Dio liberamente. Perciò colui che crede cerca di conoscere e fare la volontà di Dio, perché «la fede opera per mezzo della carità» (Gal 5,6).

CCCC 386. Qu’est-ce que la foi?

La foi est la vertu théologale par laquelle nous croyons en Dieu et à tout ce qu’il nous a révélé, et que l’Église nous propose de croire, parce que Dieu est la vérité même. Par la foi, l’homme s’en remet librement à Dieu. C’est pourquoi le croyant cherche à connaître et à faire sa volonté, car la foi « agit par la charité » (Ga 5,6).

CCCC 386. What is the virtue of faith?

Faith is the theological virtue by which we believe in God and all that he has revealed to us and that the Church proposes for our belief because God is Truth itself. By faith the human person freely commits himself to God. Therefore, the believer seeks to know and do the will of God because “faith works through charity” (Galatians 5:6).
