CCCC 423. Che cos'è la grazia che giustifica?

La grazia è il dono gratuito che Dio ci dà per renderci partecipi della sua vita trinitaria e capaci di agire per amor suo, È chiamata grazia abituale, o santificante o deificante, perché ci santifica e ci divinizza. È soprannaturale, perché dipende interamente dall'iniziativa gratuita di Dio e supera le capacità dell'intelligenza e delle forze dell'uomo. Sfugge quindi alla nostra esperienza.

La grâce est le don gratuit que Dieu nous donne afin de nous rendre participants de sa vie trinitaire et capables d’agir par amour pour lui. Elle est appelée grâce habituelle, ou sanctifiante ou déifiante, parce qu’elle sanctifie et divinise. Elle est surnaturelle, parce qu’elle dépend entièrement de l’initiative gratuite de Dieu et qu’elle dépasse les capacités de l’intelligence et des forces humaines. Elle échappe donc à notre expérience.

CCCC 423. What is the grace that justifies?
CCC 1996-1998, 2005, 2021 
That grace is the gratuitous gift that God gives us to make us participants in his trinitarian life and able to act by his love. It is called habitual, sanctifying or deifying grace because it sanctifies and divinizes us. It is supernatural because it depends entirely on God’s gratuitous initiative and surpasses the abilities of the intellect and the powers of human beings. It therefore escapes our experience.

주: 우리말 가톨릭 교회 교리서 본문에서 transcend(초월하다)라는 단어가 이미 여러 군데에서 사용되고 있으므로, surpass 단어는, “초월하다”로 번역하는 대신에, “능가하다”로 다른 단어로 번역하여, 가톨릭 교회 교리서의 우리말 번역 및 가톨릭 교회 교리서 요약편의 우리말 번역 시에 “transcend”에 대응하는 “초월하다” 표현과는 분명하게 구분하는 것이 더 정확한 번역일 것이다. 그리고 우리말 가톨릭 교회 교리서 제2005항에서 “escape” 단어를, "초월하다"가 아니라, “감지되지 않는다”로 번역한 것을 확인할 수 있다.

주: 위의 (기존의 번역)에서 영어의 “order” 및 프랑스어의 "ordre"를, “순서” 혹은 “질서”로 번역하는 대신에, “것”으로 번역한 것은 번역 오류로 보인다. 그리고 “experience”를, “경험” 대신에, “감각 기관”으로 번역한 것도 이해하기 어렵다.
