CCCC 216. Che cos'è la speranza dei cieli nuovi e della terra nuova?

Dopo il giudizio finale, lo stesso universo, liberato dalla schiavitù della corruzione, parteciperà alla gloria di Cristo con l'inaugurazione dei «nuovi cieli» e di una «terra nuova» (2 Pt 3,13). Sarà così raggiunta la pienezza del Regno di Dio, ossia la realizzazione definitiva del disegno salvifico di Dio di «ricapitolare in Cristo tutte le cose, quelle del cielo come quelle della terra» (Ef l, l0). Dio allora sarà «tutto in tutti» (1 Cor 15,28), nella vita eterna.

Après le jugement dernier, l’univers lui-même, délivré de l’esclavage de la corruption, participera à la gloire du Christ avec l’inauguration des « cieux nouveaux » et de la « nouvelle terre » (2 P 3,13). Ainsi, sera atteinte la plénitude du Royaume de Dieu, c’est-à-dire l’accomplissement définitif du dessein sauveur de Dieu : « Récapituler toutes choses dans le Christ, dans le ciel et sur la terre » (Ep 1,10). Dieu sera alors « tout en tous » (1 Co 15,28), pour la vie éternelle.

CCCC 216. What is the hope of the new heavens and the new earth?

After the final judgment the universe itself, freed from its bondage to decay, will share in the glory of Christ with the beginning of “the new heavens” and a “new earth” (2 Peter 3:13). Thus, the fullness of the Kingdom of God will come about, that is to say, the definitive realization of the salvific plan of God to “unite all things in Christ, things in heaven and things on earth” (Ephesians 1:10). God will then be “all in all” (1 Corinthians 15:28) in eternal life.
