CCCC 596. Che cosa significa: «Non ci indurre in tentazione»?

Noi domandiamo a Dio Padre di non lasciarci soli e in balia della tentazione. Domandiamo allo Spirito di saper discernere, da una parte, fra la prova che fa crescere nel bene e la tentazione che conduce al peccato e alla morte, e, dall'altra, fra essere tentati e consentire alla tentazione. Questa domanda ci unisce a Gesù che ha vinto la tentazione con la sua preghiera. Essa sollecita la grazia della vigilanza e della perseveranza finale.

Nous demandons à Dieu notre Père de ne pas nous laisser seuls au pouvoir de la tentation. Nous demandons à l’Esprit de savoir discerner d’une part entre l’épreuve qui nous fait grandir dans le bien et la tentation qui mène au péché et à la mort, et, d’autre part, entre être tenté et consentir à la tentation. Cette demande nous unit à Jésus qui a vaincu la tentation par sa prière. Elle sollicite la grâce de la vigilance et de la persévérance finale.

We ask God our Father not to leave us alone and in the power of temptation. We ask the Holy Spirit to help us know how to discern, on the one hand, between a trial that makes us grow in goodness and a temptation that leads to sin and death and, on the other hand, between being tempted and consenting to temptation. This petition unites us to Jesus who overcame temptation by his prayer. It requests the grace of vigilance and of final perseverance.
