CCCC 597. Perché concludiamo domandando: «Ma liberaci dal Male»?

Il Male indica la persona di Satana, che si oppone a Dio e che è «il seduttore di tutta la terra» (Ap 12,9). La vittoria sul diavolo è già conseguita da Cristo. Ma noi preghiamo affinché la famiglia umana sia liberata da Satana e dalle sue opere. Domandiamo anche il dono prezioso della pace e la grazia dell'attesa perseverante della venuta di Cristo, che ci libererà definitivamente dal Maligno.

Le Mal désigne la personne de Satan, qui s’oppose à Dieu et qui est « le séducteur de toute la terre » (Ap 12,9). La victoire sur le diable a déjà été acquise par le Christ. Mais nous prions afin que la famille humaine soit libérée de Satan et de ses œuvres. Nous demandons aussi le don précieux de la paix et la grâce d’attendre avec persévérance la venue du Christ, qui nous libérera définitivement du Malin.

CCCC 597. Why do we conclude by asking “But deliver us from evil”?

“Evil” indicates the person of Satan who opposes God and is “the deceiver of the whole world” (Revelation 12:9). Victory over the devil has already been won by Christ. We pray, however, that the human family be freed from Satan and his works. We also ask for the precious gift of peace and the grace of perseverance as we wait for the coming of Christ who will free us definitively from the Evil One.
