119. In quale modo Cristo ha offerto se stesso al Padre?

Tutta la vita di Cristo è libera offerta al Padre per compiere il suo disegno di salvezza. Egli dà «la sua vita in riscatto per molti» (Mc 10,45) e in tal modo riconcilia con Dio tutta l'umanità. La sua sofferenza e la sua morte manifestano come la sua umanità sia lo strumento libero e perfetto dell'Amore divino che vuole la salvezza di tutti gli uomini.

119. Comment le Christ s’est-il offert lui-même au Père?

Toute la vie du Christ est offerte librement au Père pour accomplir son dessein de salut. Il a donné sa vie « en rançon pour la multitude » (Mc 10, 45). Par là, il réconcilie toute l’humanité avec Dieu. Sa souffrance et sa mort manifestent que sa propre humanité a été l’instrument libre et parfait de l’Amour divin qui veut le salut de tous les hommes.

119. In what way did Christ offer himself to the Father?

The entire life of Christ was a free offering to the Father to carry out his plan of salvation. He gave “his life as a ransom for many” (Mark 10:45) and in this way he reconciled all of humanity with God. His suffering and death showed how his humanity was the free and perfect instrument of that divine love which desires the salvation of all people.
