CCCC 38. Con quale nome Dio si rivela?

A Mosè Dio si rivela come il Dio vivente, «il Dio di Abramo, il Dio di Isacco, il Dio di Giacobbe» (Es 3,6). Allo stesso Mosè Dio rivela il suo nome misterioso: «Io Sono Colui che Sono (YHWH)». Il nome ineffabile di Dio già nei tempi dell'Antico Testamento fu sostituito dalla parola Signore. Così nel Nuovo Testamento, Gesù, chiamato Signore, appare come vero Dio.

À Moïse, Dieu s’est révélé comme le Dieu vivant, « Dieu d’Abraham, Dieu d’Isaac, Dieu de Jacob » (Ex 3,6). Il lui a révélé son nom mystérieux : « Je suis Celui qui Est » (YHWH). Déjà, à l’époque de l’Ancien Testament, le nom ineffable de Dieu fut remplacé par celui de Seigneur. Ainsi, dans le Nouveau Testament, Jésus, appelé Seigneur, apparaît comme vrai Dieu.

God revealed himself to Moses as the living God, “the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob” (Exodus 3:6). God also revealed to Moses his mysterious name “I Am Who I Am (YHWH)”. Already in Old Testament times this ineffable name of God was replaced by the divine title Lord. Thus in the New Testament, Jesus who was called Lord is seen as true God.
