CCCC 110. Quale significato ha la Trasfigurazione?

Nella Trasfigurazione appare anzitutto la Trinità: «Il Padre nella voce, il Figlio nell'uomo, lo Spirito nella nube brillante» (san Tommaso d'Aquino). Evocando con Mosè ed Elia la sua «dipartita» (Lc 9,31), Gesù mostra che la sua gloria passa attraverso la Croce e dà un anticipo della sua risurrezione e della sua gloriosa venuta, «che trasfigurerà il nostro misero corpo per conformarlo al suo corpo glorioso» (Fil 3,21).
| «Tu ti sei trasfigurato sul monte e, nella misura in cui ne erano capaci, i tuoi discepoli hanno contemplato la tua Gloria, Cristo Dio, affinché, quando ti avrebbero visto crocifisso, comprendessero che la tua Passione era volontaria e annunziassero al mondo che tu sei veramente l'irradiazione del Padre» (Liturgia Bizantina). |

À la transfiguration apparaît avant tout la Trinité : « Le Père en sa parole, le Fils dans son humanité, l’Esprit dans la nuée de lumière » (saint Thomas d’Aquin). En évoquant avec Moïse et Élie « son départ » (Lc 9, 31), Jésus montre que sa gloire passe par la croix; et il anticipe sa résurrection et son retour dans la gloire, « qui transfigurera notre corps mortel à l’image de son corps glorieux » (Ph 3,21).
| Tu t’es transfiguré sur la montagne, et, autant qu’ils en étaient capables, tes disciples ont contemplé ta Gloire, Christ Dieu, afin que, lorsqu’ils Te verraient crucifié, ils comprennent que ta passion était volontaire et qu’ils annoncent au monde que Tu es vraiment le rayonnement du Père (Liturgie byzantine). |

Above all the Transfiguration shows forth the Trinity: “the Father in the voice, the Son in the man Jesus, the Spirit in the shining cloud” (Saint Thomas Aquinas). Speaking with Moses and Elijah about his “departure” (Luke 9:31), Jesus reveals that his glory comes by way of the cross and he anticipates his resurrection and his glorious coming “which will change our lowly body to be like his glorious body” (Philippians 3:21).
