CCCC 209. Che cosa s'intende per «cielo»?

Per «cielo» s'intende lo stato di felicità suprema e definitiva. Quelli che muoiono nella grazia di Dio e non hanno bisogno di ulteriore purificazione sono riuniti attorno a Gesù e a Maria, agli Angeli e ai Santi. Formano così la Chiesa del cielo, dove essi vedono Dio «a faccia a faccia» (1 Cor 13,12), vivono in comunione d'amore con la Santissima Trinità e intercedono per
noi.

On entend par « ciel » l’état de bonheur suprême et définitif. Ceux qui meurent dans la grâce de Dieu et qui n’ont besoin d’aucune purification ultérieure sont réunis autour de Jésus et de Marie, des anges et des saints. Ils forment ainsi l’Église du
ciel, où ils voient Dieu « face à face » (1 Co 13,12); ils vivent en communion d’amour avec la Sainte Trinité et ils intercèdent pour
nous.

CCCC 209. What is meant by the term “heaven”?

By “heaven” is meant the state of supreme and definitive happiness. Those who die in the grace of God and have no need of further purification are gathered around Jesus and Mary, the angels and the saints. They thus form the Church of heaven, where they see God “face to face” (1 Corinthians 13:12). They live in a communion of love with the Most Blessed Trinity and they intercede for us.
