Il purgatorio è lo stato di quanti muoiono nell'amicizia di Dio, ma, benché sicuri della loro salvezza eterna, hanno ancora bisogno di purificazione, per entrare nella beatitudine celeste.

Le purgatoire est l’état de ceux qui meurent dans l’amitié divine, mais qui, tout en étant assurés de leur salut éternel, ont encore besoin de purification pour entrer dans la béatitude du ciel.

Purgatory is the state of those who die in God’s friendship, assured of their eternal salvation, but who still have need of purification to enter into the happiness of heaven.
