CCCC 157. Chi è il capo di questo corpo?

Cristo «è il Capo del corpo, cioè della Chiesa» (Col 1,18). La Chiesa vive di lui, in lui e per lui. Cristo e Chiesa formano il «Cristo totale» (sant'Agostino); «Capo e membra sono, per così dire, una sola persona mistica» (san Tommaso d'Aquino).

Le Christ « est la Tête du corps, c’est-à-dire de l’Église » (Col 1,18). L’Église vit de lui, en lui et par lui. Le Christ et l’Église forment le « Christ total » (saint Augustin). « Tête et membres, une seule et même personne mystique pour ainsi dire » (saint Thomas d’Aquin).

Christ “is the Head of the body, the Church” (Colossians 1:18). The Church lives from him, in him and for him. Christ and the Church make up the “whole Christ” (Saint Augustine); “Head and members form, as it were, one and the same mystical person” (Saint Thomas Aquinas).
