CCCC 142. Qual è l'opera dello Spirito in Maria?

Lo Spirito Santo porta a compimento in Maria le attese e la preparazione dell'Antico Testamento alla venuta di Cristo. In maniera unica la riempie di grazia e rende la sua verginità feconda, per dare alla luce il Figlio di Dio incarnato. Fa di lei la Madre del «Cristo totale», cioè di Gesù Capo e della Chiesa suo corpo. Maria è presente fra i Dodici il giorno della Pentecoste, quando lo Spirito inaugura gli «ultimi tempi» con la manifestazione della Chiesa.

En Marie le Saint-Esprit porte à son achèvement toutes les attentes de la venue du Christ et sa préparation dans l’Ancien Testament. D’une manière unique, il la remplit de grâce et rend féconde sa virginité, pour donner naissance dans la chair au Fils de Dieu. Il fait d’elle la Mère du « Christ total », c’est-à-dire du Christ Tête et de l’Église son corps. Marie est présente au milieu des Douze le jour de la Pentecôte, quand l’Esprit inaugure les « derniers temps » avec la manifestation de l’Église.

The Holy Spirit brought to fulfillment in Mary all the waiting and the preparation of the Old Testament for the coming of Christ. In a singular way he filled her with grace and made her virginity fruitful so that she could give birth to the Son of God made flesh. He made her the Mother of the “whole Christ”, that is, of Jesus the Head and of the Church his body. Mary was present with the twelve on the day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit inaugurated the “last days” with the manifestation of the Church.
