CCCC 588. Che cosa significa: «Sia santificato il tuo nome»?

Santificare il Nome di Dio è innanzitutto una lode che riconosce Dio come Santo. Infatti, Dio ha rivelato il suo santo Nome a Mosè e ha voluto che il suo popolo gli fosse consacrato come una nazione santa in cui egli dimora.

Sanctifier le Nom de Dieu, c’est avant tout une louange qui reconnaît Dieu comme Saint. Dieu a en effet révélé son Nom à Moïse et il a voulu que son peuple lui soit consacré comme une nation sainte chez qui il habite.

To hallow or make holy the Name of God is above all a prayer of praise that acknowledges God as holy. In fact, God revealed his holy Name to Moses and wanted his people to be consecrated for him as a holy nation in which he would dwell.
