CCCC 28. Quali sono le caratteristiche della fede?

La fede, dono gratuito di Dio e accessibile a quanti la chiedono umilmente, è la virtù soprannaturale necessaria per essere salvati, L'atto di fede è un atto umano, cioè un atto dell'intelligenza dell'uomo che, sotto la spinta della volontà mossa da Dio, dà liberamente il proprio consenso alla verità divina. La fede, inoltre, è certa, perché fondata sulla Parola di Dio; è operosa « per mezzo della carità» (Gal 5,6); è in continua crescita, grazie all'ascolto della Parola di Dio e alla preghiera, Essa fin d'ora ci fa pregustare la gioia celeste.

La foi, don gratuit de Dieu et accessible à ceux qui la demandent avec humilité, est la vertu surnaturelle nécessaire pour être sauvé. L’acte de foi est un acte humain, c’est-à-dire un acte de l’intelligence de l’homme qui, sous la motion de la volonté mue par Dieu, donne librement son adhésion à la vérité divine. En outre, la foi est certaine, car elle est fondée sur la Parole de Dieu; elle est agissante « par la charité » (Ga 5,6); elle grandit en permanence grâce en particulier à l’écoute de la Parole de Dieu et à la prière. Dès à présent, elle donne l’avant-goût de la joie du ciel.

Faith is the supernatural virtue which is necessary for salvation. It is a free gift of God and is accessible to all who humbly seek it. The act of faith is a human act, that is, an act of the intellect of a person - prompted by the will moved by God - who freely assents to divine truth. Faith is also certain because it is founded on the Word of God; it works “through charity” (Galatians 5:6); and it continually grows through listening to the Word of God and through prayer. It is, even now, a foretaste of the joys of heaven.
